Christmas and New Years Day have come and gone, and winter activities are resuming.

For some organizations the holiday period is their busiest time, planning and presenting special events and programs for the season. For others, activity continues as normal, but with a Christmas theme. And some take a brief hiatus.

But as they say on TV, “we now resume our regular programming.”

For those who enjoy getting outside, recent snowfall and cold weather have opened up opportunities for skiing, skating, and ice fishing. Indoor activities will resume this week as well: classes, crafts, choir practices, and of course committee meetings.

Respect managed to visit The Bonnyville Seniors’ Drop-In Centre on Sunday for their monthly pancake breakfast. The Centre offers the breakfasts as a fundraiser the first Sunday of every month. Watch for the next one February 2.

We also got out to the Jamboree at Cold Lake Seniors’ Society. The next Jamboree will be in Islay on Sunday, January 19.

Our Roundup section on page 10 will give you a look ahead to upcoming Lakeland events. If your nonprofit organization would like to submit a free listing for future issues, please get in touch with us!
