Greenhouse operators put a lot of work and a lot of pride into their short selling seasons. It’s what makes every visit to an independent garden centre a real joy.
If you’re planning your spring planting, now’s the time to tour the neighbourhood for the season’s flowers, vegetables, fruit-bearing plants, seeds, and equipment and materials. More than anything it’s a great time shop for ideas and inspiration.
The greenhouse gardeners’ hard work is your opportunity to enjoy springtime in the Lakeland. The green plants and colourful blooms, and the smells of earth and flowers, are some of the beautiful parts of a greenhouse visit. And your friendly local grower has lots of great advice for the care of your new plants.
Even if you’re not ready to start your spring digging, look at our map on this page and plan a tour. It’s worth the drive! The garden centres are well spread out among our prairie landscape—you’ll see all kinds of newly-returned bird life and the first tinges of green in the trees.
While you’re out, visit the nearby communities and look around their parks. Find a new-to-you spot to have lunch, or if the weather is perfect pick up some picnic items at a local grocery.
We offer a big thank-you to our advertisers on this page. Please visit Owlseye Greenhouses and Gardens, Fourmile Flowers, Touch of Green, Moe’s Gardens and Greenhouse, and Botanical Blooms. And tell them you saw their ad in Respect!
Happy planning, happy planting!
