Almost 300 people came out to Musée St. Paul Museum for Open Farm Days on the weekend, and still more visited participating Farms in the M.D. of Bonnyville.

The St. Paul Museum displays and activities included hay rides, log-cutting, cream separating, butter and ice cream making, saw-cutting demonstrations and more.

The Klatt Ranch offered a petting zoo to let kids (and adults, let’s face it) get acquainted with farm animals.

Admission was sponsored by Community Futures St. Paul – Smoky Lake, and the petting zoo was sponsored by St. Paul Veterinary Clinic.

Several diverse farms in the M.D. of Bonnyville opened their gates to visitors. Charlotte Lake Farms, E-Tree The Tree Farm, 350 Farms, Rocky Meadows Country Getaway, Wild Willows Haven, and Providence Acres Flower Farm all welcomed guests and shared information about their operations.

Lakeland Co-op was the tile sponsor for Open Farm Days in the M.D. of Bonnyville.

Open Farm Days is an annual opportunity for Albertans to learn more about how agricultural products—mostly, but not exclusively food—are grown and raised.

The cream rises to the top! Volunteers demonstrate a cream separator at Musée St. Paul Museum during Open Farm Days. MELANIE BROADBENT
