There has been no shortage of snow this winter. There has also been plenty of wind, freezing cold temperatures, and the occasional thaw.
The constant change has kept the Lakeland Cross-Country Ski Club’s trail groomers and track setters busy, and kept the members guessing about conditions day to day.
While the skiers have found their way out onto the trails all winter, the club only managed to hold its first event of the winter on Sunday. A fun ski on the Westcove trails, along with a bring-your-own cookies potluck, made for an enjoyable afternoon.
The day was perfect with sunshine, mild (but not sloppy) weather, good snow, great trails, and good company around a wood fire.
It was a promising start(?) to a fun season of club activity—even if the season just has a couple of weeks to go.
